Good question. I use a lot of models in my training as they’re a great way to communicate material and concepts. A good model should do two things. Firstly, it should provide us with a lens through which we can view a particular issue. This might be a challenge, a problem, an opportunity, or just something we’re stuck on.
The next thing a good model should do is provide us with a language to talk about and consider an issue. Quite often we understand an issue or a challenge, but we find it hard to articulate it. Developing a language around an issue can help us explain it, help us break it down and examine it, and then help us to tackle it.
‘But there are three icons in your MBT model’. Well spotted. Sometimes a model can also provide us with a plan or route map to go forward. It won’t tell us what to do, but it will put us in a position to define the action we want to take. And as we all know, it’s only by taking action that we get results.
As well as models there are a number of principles and concepts that I use to underpin training. These are usually ways to consider and frame an issue, ways of thinking to help us see something differently and find the opportunities, so I’ll share some of these with you as well.
I’m looking forward to sharing these models and hopefully providing some value and support. If you have any questions, please just drop me a line.
Until next week...
